The Early Years at 1 Cook StreetDashwood Manor Bed and Breakfast was designed by Stanley Mitton, a protege of one of British Columbia’s most prestigious architects, Samuel MacClure. Completed in 1912, this stately home was built for Arthur and Eleanor Lineham at 1 Cook Street, looking out to the ocean and the mountains of Washington State's Olympics Mountain Range. The Linehams enjoyed rich and gracious living at Number 1 Cook with their three children and extended family, including Eleanor’s father, Mr. Madigan, who had been Chief Engineer on the famous Hudson Bay ship, the Beaver. The Lineham home was a place of grand celebration and important social gatherings over the next fifteen years. Come and experience the historic charm of this heritage designated and famous bed and breakfast inn. The Lineham home came to be called Dashwood Manor when Derek Dashwood bought it in 1978. The place had deteriorated, and the owner at that time had applied for a demolition permit, intending to replace the old mansion with 7 townhouses. Derek worked steadily over the next 25 years, upgrading the building and converting it for bed and breakfast use. Innkeepers Dave and Sharon LayzellDave and Sharon purchased Dashwood Manor in 2004 after many successful Proud members of Victoria's premier bed and breakfast association Victoria's Historic Inns, the Best B&Bs of Victoria and Victoria's Finest B&Bs. Our accommodations are inspected and approved by Tourism British Columbia and Tourism Victoria.
